How to install your shades?
Every LazBlinds shade is no-drill — it mounts inside your window frame with no holes, no power tools, and nothing to patch if you move.
Your model-specific install guide is on the product page you ordered from (and in the box). This page covers the parts that are the same for every no-drill install: what to prep, how the mount actually holds, and what to do if something doesn't feel right.
Tools: none required for most installs. A clean cloth, a level, and a step stool are all you'll realistically need.
Safety: keep children and pets away from small parts and tools. For cordless shades, confirm the lift mechanism locks in place before leaving the window unattended. For products with accessible cords, keep cords out of reach of children.
Unbox and check your parts
Lay everything out on a clean, flat surface and match it against the parts list in your install guide. Do this before you mount anything — it's much easier to spot a missing bracket on the table than on a ladder.
If anything is missing or damaged, email service@lazblinds.com with your order number and a photo. We'll ship the replacement right away — you don't need to take anything down.
Prep the frame surface
No-drill mounts hold by pressure against the inside of the frame, so the surface matters more than you'd think. Wipe the inside of the frame down with a clean, dry cloth and remove any dust, grease, or old adhesive.
- Don't install on a wet or freshly painted frame — let paint cure for at least 72 hours first.
- The surface should be flat and solid. Rounded, warped, or flexible vinyl frames don't hold well. If that's what you have, contact us before forcing it.
How the no-drill mount holds
Instead of screws, no-drill brackets use spring tension to press firmly against the inside of your window frame. Nothing goes into the wall or the frame permanently, and the whole thing comes off just as easily.
Three checks that tell you it's seated:
- The bracket sits flat and flush against the frame — no gaps or rocking.
- The tension mechanism is fully compressed and locked.
- Give the headrail a firm downward pull before you let go. If it holds, it's in. If it slips, it's not — re-seat it rather than adding force later.
Don't overload it. No-drill mounts are designed for the shade's own weight. Don't hang anything from the headrail or yank the shade sideways.

Troubleshooting
The shade keeps slipping or won't stay up
Nine times out of ten it's one of these:
Frame too shallow— re-check your depth against the minimum on the product page. Roller & Zebra shades need at least 2 1/2 inches; all others need at least 1 1/2 inches. This is the most common cause.
Surface not clean or not flat— wipe it down and try again; rounded or flexible vinyl won't grip.
Tension not fully engaged— remove the shade, reset the bracket, and compress the mechanism completely before re-seating.
If it still slips, email us a photo of your frame and we'll tell you straight whether it will work — or swap you to an alternative.
The shade looks crooked or won't sit level
Release the tension, re-level the headrail, and re-seat it. A level — or the level app on most phones — makes this a one-minute job.
If your window frame itself isn't square (common in older homes), a small shim under the lower side of the bracket will square it up.
It doesn't fit — the shade is too wide or too narrow
Don't force it. Check your measurements against our How to Measure guide — the most common issue is measuring to the outside of the trim instead of the inside of the frame.
